Assumptions

  • Gross incomes are converted with Vermont’s January 2, 2024 official custody-specific tax table.
  • Converted available incomes are $4,001 and $3,233.
  • The payer is the noncustodial parent under the sole-custody worksheet.
  • Both gross incomes are within the conversion table.
  • Combined available income is within the expenditure table.
  • The result does not reduce the obligor below the current $1,596 self-support reserve.
  • The child count has its own table column.
  • Health insurance deductions, support paid, additional dependents, childcare, extraordinary expenses, split custody, partial-shared custody, maintenance supplements, and deviations are excluded.

Vermont starts with “available income”

The engine uses 601-row gross-to-after-tax tables and the 588-row Intact Family Expenditures table revised January 2, 2024.

The full shared formula multiplies expenditure by 150% when each parent has at least 30% of overnights.
