Duration limits

  • Threshold findings: The seeking spouse must lack sufficient property for reasonable needs and be unable to self-support through appropriate employment, or appropriately remain home as a child’s custodian.
  • Amount and duration: The court sets an amount and period it considers just, without regard to marital misconduct.
